First meeting of my new homegroup is tonight. Its not officially the first - we’re going for a “soft start” approach where the core team get together for a few weeks before opening the doors to the world. We’re going to work through some material and plan our program for the next couple of months. I am aware, thanks to the cross-cultural evangelism training of VLI, that I tend to value precision / accuracy over relationships. I am sincerely hoping that my guesses of core team members will balance this factor out! However, its interesting to note that my training for tonight is all about the anatomy of a typical evening (in terms of a very rough time breakdown) and the schedule of what will happen on what weeks for the rest of the year. Hmm.
I’m nervous, if truth be told. I really like the team I have - one couple are new friends and serving in this group will help me get to know them better (hereafter known as “C+C“). The other couple are folks Ive known for about 5 years on and off, and have wanted to spend some quality time with them for ages now (aka “J+T“). These 2 couples are my primary focus right now - thinking about how to develop their leadership skills, and encourage them forward in their walk of faith. When others join the group I am really hoping that C+C and J+T will test the waters and lead some.
