Take a look: it’s Hammy Hamster’s Homepage!

And, courtesy of RED DWARF (Season IV Episode 1, “Camille”)

CAT: (Sitting next to LISTER) What’re you watching?
LISTER: Ah, just a vid. This is a classic, man!
CAT: What is it?
LISTER: Tales of the Riverbank: The Next Generation.
CAT: Oh, right! I’ve seen this! It’s not as good as the original.
LISTER: Well, they never really found anyone to replace Hammy Hamster, did they?
CAT: How could they? The dude was a diva! He smouldered; the camera loved him!
LISTER: Yeah. He was the rodent equivalent of Marlon Brando.
CAT: Whatever happened? Whatever happened to old Hammy? One minute he’s a huge star, running around on his own personalised gold wheel, with as much Edam as he could hold in his little cheeks; the next: obscurity!
LISTER: Well, he went on the slide, the series ended, couldn’t find any more work, and then the ultimate humiliation: Hamstergrams.

Well, well, well! It appears that I am not alone! :-)
I was listening to the radio this lunchtime and it appears that there is at least one radio preacher out there who shares my view on something. Specifically, in the interpretation of end-times prophesy. It ticks me off royally when people start promoting their own assumptions as “fact”, without doing a simple exegesis of the bible passages in question. They claim that it is “self evident,” yet the passages they point to are vague and could say a number of things. Too much fiction lives on the shelves of Christian bookstores and it annoys me.

The radio preacher today used the term “historical pre-millenialist” - I think I would have used the term “Classic pre-millenialist”. But, what’s in a name?

Lord of the rings was absolutely awesome last night! I would have blogged about it at 2am when we arrived back in the house, but, sleep was calling my name and I have to work today. It was definitely worth it though.

Right now I’ve almost completed implementing version 0.91 and 0.92 of the RSS specification - version 2.0 will have to wait until later. It is a good feeling, doing it all in a fully test-first manner. Since I want to release the code to the wider developer community it’s only right to have tested it thoroughly, and to release the test suite so others can do the same.

Posts will follow later about this, but, there’s a chance we might get to see Lord of the Rings this evening at a special preview presentation. :-)

I went back through my old computer, looking for things I’d written. The end result is the arrival of 8 new articles:

Another entry is needed - even if it’s just to show that I am still alive! I’ve been working on a couple of things recently

  • A long article answering the question “Is there only one God, and is Jesus really The only way?” (Thanks Pete Bevin for the topic suggestion)
  • Fully specification compliant parser and generator for RSS - the syndication format used on a lot of websites.
  • A complete test-suite for Chronicle Lite - a Blogger.com client for all platforms

That, and all the things I do outside of the geek realm!

On another note: take a look at the free online book Dive Into Accessibility: 30 days to a more accessible web site its very good stuff!
